9 Best Yoga Poses for Boosting Confidence in Children

Yoga and mindfulness are integral to nurturing happy, healthy children for many reasons. One of the benefits of yoga is its powerful ability to help boost our confidence.

Through heart opening yoga poses, energizing postures, and affirmations, we are able to build self-esteem, self-love, and self-confidence with a routine yoga practice.

If you want to help build self-esteem in your children or students, try these nine empowering yoga poses for boosting confidence - they’re some of our favorites!

1. Star Pose

Practice Star yoga pose and beatboxing! Our original “I’m a Star” song pairs a power pose like Star Pose with positive affirmations to encourage confidence and self-awareness. The kid-friendly yoga pose includes variations like side bends, twists and single leg balancing.

2. Mountain Pose

Mountain Pose is considered “home” in yoga. It helps us center and focus, and is a great place to start one of these yoga poses for stress relief.

To find calm and build self-esteem, practice Mountain Pose while singing along to our Foundation song — learning how to ground down and reach tall! You can also pair it with many of these positive affirmations for kids to support a healthy inner dialogue.

3. Warrior Pose

Use Warrior yoga poses to strengthen, build focus, and foster confidence! Often times, stress and tension create a blockage in building self-esteem, and warrior helps us combat some of that tension while instilling self-trust.

We love Humble Warrior pose for its ability to help us build proprioception and self-awareness. This forward folding pose takes a different approach to heart opening and creates space for introspection and grounding so that we can feel empowered in our uniqueness.

It is a powerful pose for teachers too — something we teach in our yoga trainings is how to feel grounded and empowered to use your unique voice and be heard.
